Fruit - Start eating low sugar fruit. The best choices are small amounts of lemon and lime, rhubarb, raspberries, blackberries, and cranberries. These fruits contain the lowest amount of sugar than any others. Other fruits that contain slightly higher amounts of sugar but are still good choices include cantaloupes, blueberries, peaches, nectarines, papaya, casaba melon, watermelon, strawberries, honeydew melons, apples, guavas, apricots, and grapefruit. Fruits that are fairly high in sugar include pineapple, plums, oranges, kiwifruit, and pears. Fruits that are extremely high in sugar include cherries, tangerines, mangoes, cherries, grapes, pomegranates, mangoes, figs, and bananas.

List of Low Carb Foods for Weight Loss

Nuts and Seeds - Nuts and seeds are packed with nutrients and are great substitutes for more starchier foods like wheat. Flax seeds are extremely healthy and low in carbs. A combination of healthy fat, protein, and fiber make them appetizing to eat.

List of Low Carb Foods for Weight Loss

Dairy products - The amount of dairy you can eat will depend on how sensitive your body is to carbs. Some people can stomach more dairy than others. Milk contains a fair amount of sugar but is broken down over a longer period of time than other sugars. Many people tolerate milk well while others have serious intestinal problems when exposed to it. Don't blame me if you end up stuck on the toilet because you consumed too much milk. Milk does have some carbs in the form of lactose which is supposedly less glycemic than other sugars. Some good substitutes for milk are coconut milk, unsweetened soy milk or unsweetened almond milk. If you are sensitive to milk some other good dairy products where the whey is removed and have less sugar include strained yogurt, cottage cheese, and other cheeses. If you do not have a lot of dairy in your diet make sure you are getting adequate amounts of calcium.

Fats - Believe it or not, there are essential fats in foods that are vital to your overall health. Omega 3′s found in fish are great for you.

Legumes - Legumes such as beans, lentils, and peas have a lot carbs in them. However, these carbs are digested slowly and are excellent choices for people who don't process sugar well. FYI - canned beans are more glycemic than beans you cook yourself. Soy beans are lower in carbohydrates than other beans. Black soy beans are probably your best best because they don't have the bland taste of regular soy beans and they work well in most bean recipes.

Whole grains - While whole grains are often rich in carbs, there are good additions to a low carb diet. The starch is broken down into glucose more slowly than flour and refined grains. A serving of grains is about a half cup. Whole grain pasta should be cooked slightly firm as the more it is cooked the faster it is broken down. You will lose the nutritional value if you cook it for too long. Some good substitutes to pasta which are lower in carbs include spaghetti squash, shirataki noodles, and low carb pastas such as Dreamfields.

Foods you want to stay away from - sugary and starchy foods - aka. foods rapidly produced into glucose

- Foods with lots of sugars such as soft drinks and candies

- Fruit juices - Many fruit juices are packed with sugar. Here are some good guidelines when consuming fruit juices. 8 ounces a day of 100% juice is okay. However, keep in mind, that juices are usually high in calories. If you are really trying to lose weight, substitute the low sugar fruits as mentioned above for fruit juice.

- Foods with tons of flour - Foods such as cakes, cookies, and crackers, are packed with flour and have little nutritional benefit.

Why Low-No Fat Foods and Sugar Free Foods Are Bad For You and Will Make You PUT ON WEIGHT Instead

However I could never get my 6 packs to show. My total body fat was still above 10%. Mind you I did not expect and instant results.

Why Low-No Fat Foods and Sugar Free Foods Are Bad For You and Will Make You PUT ON WEIGHT Instead

I've been training for at least 6 month in a very dedicated manner. So what was the problem?

I was eating low fat foods, sugar free stuff and the likes. I should be getting my results right? Wrong! Why?

It was not until later did I realize what I was doing wrong. There was nothing wrong with my workout regime other than it was probably crazy but not detrimental to one's health. Workout aside, it was the food intake that was keeping me from reaching my goals.

Fat Free/Low Fat Foods

Why are they bad for you? First of all it's important to note that most foods that are fat free or have no fat are always supplemented with more sugar. Why? Well basically because lots of foods just don't taste good without the fat. Not only does it not taste good other wise but your body just won't be satisfied with the food.

What happens to sugar? Sugar if not used as energy will then be stored in your body as fat. The very thing you wanted to avoid in the first place. There you are trying to avoid fat at all cost, eating this supposedly low fat and no fat food and there your body stores all that extra sugar as fat.

Sugar naturally makes your body more satisfied as it's a form of carbohydrates, the simple kind. Carbohydrates make your body release endorphins, a feel good hormone that makes you feel satisfied so you don't crave for more food. However its just temporary if you are eating mainly simple carbs like sugar.

Sugar Free Foods

Have you ever noticed that almost all those people eating sugar free food are actually overweight? Well you may argue that that is the reason why they are eating sugar free food in the first place. The thing is studies have shown that sugar free food actually makes you gain weight contrary to what the diet food companies are telling you.

Why is that? Here is the science behind it. Aspartame, saccharin and sucralose are one of the most common artificial sweeteners out there. As mentioned before, sugar makes you feel more satisfied due to the endorphin hormone that it will help produce. However, this is not so with sugar free foods and in turn people tend to eat up to 50% more of the food as they aren't satisfied.

Not only are they not satisfying to the body but can also bring serious side-effects such as brain tumors, lesions, seizures, headaches, dizziness, mood disorders, disorientation and confusion, depression and anxiety, diarrhea, fatigue and even heart-attacks. Would you sacrifice your health like this for something that doesn't even work?

So where does that leave us?

Stick to natural foods, the less unprocessed or engineered, the better. If you have a sweet tooth, try the natural sweeteners such as honey and maple syrup. You'll realize that there are much more easier ways to lose fat and also in a much more satisfying way. Stop all those diet foods you're eating right now and follow a proper diet program. You'll be surprised how easy it is to follow a diet especially since it does not starve you.

I have provided a link to a free eBook that will teach you how to eat to effectively burn fat.

Training and Nutrition Insider Secrets for a Leaner Body.

It will teach you how to eat real food and not those diet foods that only make you fatter and more unhealthy.

High Protein Low Carb Foods - Quick Tips And Warnings

Eating too much high protein low carb foods might cause you to suffer from instant mood changes. If you're already moody before even taking this diet, you might want to reconsider dieting using this option.

High Protein Low Carb Foods - Quick Tips And Warnings

Many people advocate the virtual opposite of eating high protein low carb foods. These people point out studies which reveal how diets possessing high carbs allow people to enjoy general improvement of their moods.

Be aware that even authorities like the American Heart Association and the government of the United States have guidelines regarding diets and which a high protein low carb diet violates.

With this type of diet, you should try to moderate your lifestyle because the absence of carbohydrates in your body will immediately lead to an absence of energy. Thus, you'll find yourself more easily tired and stressed. Granted, you're going to lose weight more quickly but your exhaustion might prevent you from enjoying your trimmer and healthier figure.

Eating lots of protein and almost zero carbohydrates can also slow down your thinking process. If mental agility is a must in your job, you'll definitely find this diet disadvantageous to your occupation.

There's such a thing as good protein and bad protein. So be careful then about which foods you're eating because it might contain the bad protein. Bad protein foods are disastrous to your diet!

The best source of good protein foods is seafood and fish. Better yet, these foods have low fat content as well, further preventing any chances for you to gain weight.

To end this with a positive note, you should know that amidst all those warnings, there are however two great benefits that you'll enjoy with high protein low carb foods. Firstly, you get to control your weight more easily and secondly, if you want to buff up a little, protein can help you build your muscles.

A pescetarian, commonly understood as a vegetarian who eats fish, will not have too much trouble meeting the demands of the Dukan diet. They can find enough protein in fish and shellfish. Meals made out of various fillets of fish, smoked salmon, mussels, prawn, crab meat, etc. will provide a plentiful supply of protein and variety. Many fish eating vegetarians (pescetarians) also eat animal products such as eggs and dairy. Smoked salmon and cottage cheese, a meal enjoyed by many meat eaters too, makes a perfect and delicious meal suitable for any phase of the Dukan diet.

The Dukan Diet For Vegetarians - Is a Meat Free Low Carb Diet Possible?

However, there are vegetarians (perhaps the majority) that do not permit themselves fish. Vegetarians, after all, do not eat animal flesh and fish are animals! Is is possible for these people to follow the diet as well as their consciences?

The Dukan Diet For Vegetarians - Is a Meat Free Low Carb Diet Possible?

Tofu, familiar to most vegetarians, is permitted on the diet. Dr. Dukan, whose book is not aimed at vegetarians, includes tofu in his list of permitted foods. Perhaps, through this diet, many meat eaters who previously saw no reason to add tofu to their diet will consider this food, popular worldwide, as a novel addition to their menus.

Textured vegetable protein (TVP) is not mentioned in the book however, it is a high protein food with some but low carbohydrate. Quorn, a mycoprotein, like TVP is not mentioned in the book. However it is also a high protein food that is low in carbohydrate. This vegetarian food is now available in many different forms and varieties. Some have higher carbohydrate contents than others, so vegetarians will need to shop carefully.

Skimmed milk, low fat cottage cheese, fromage frais, and quark are all mentioned and permitted on the diet. Unlike vegans, vegetarians allow themselves these products as well as eggs (also permitted on the diet). These foods can be used liberally although with some restriction on egg yolks and milk.

The challenge for the vegetarian who wishes to follow the Dukan diet will be to put together a viable meat free menu. While it may not be possible to reduce carbohydrate to the, minimal, levels advised by Dr. Dukan, it should be possible to get close to that ideal.

I began by combining all of the dry ingredients and whisked them together. I then added the egg, the milk, and then the oil and whisked until the dough began to thicken. I then kneaded the dough for a little to disperse the coconut oil.

Then, I left the dough in the bowl while I chopped up vegetables, but it is not necessary to let the dough set because the dough does not rise - I did not even cover it.

I chopped up two large carrots (but I might suggest two medium because I ended up with a lot of carrots), 1/2 a medium sized red onion, three cloves garlic (I love garlic, so I don't know if that would be too much for your taste or not; use your best judgment), 1 tablespoon ginger (ginger - and garlic - are very good especially if you are on a candida diet), and about 1/2 cup red cabbage.

Now, everything was all ready and all I had to do was put it all together. I rolled out the dough on the counter by placing flour on the counter, then pressing the dough down on it, then flipped it over to coat both sides. I rolled the dough out to be very thin, and it coated the bottom of a cookie sheet quite perfectly. (I did have to cut some dough off the top and bottom to fit it in the corners, and I even still had a tiny bit of dough left, which I froze to use another time once all of my tiny leftovers accumulate to make enough for one whole batch.) I did use a new stick free pan, and I did not even spray it, and still the pizza did not stick; however, I might suggest greasing the pan.

For the hummus, which was used as a replacement for tomato sauce, I used a simple, original flavored store-bought hummus (although you can easily make your own, or use any variety). I spread a slightly thick layer of hummus on the rolled out dough now in the cookie sheet. Then I shredded probably about 1 cup of medium cheddar cheese on top and proceeded to sprinkle the chopped vegetables onto the pizza. Then, to top it off, I sprinkled it with a little garlic powder and garlic salt (which I mistakenly thought was garlic powder, and advise to use only garlic powder).

I decided to also, to use some elk meat, since my husband likes meat occasionally, I put small chunks of meat on half of the pizza. They were already well cooked and came out slightly over cooked, so I would advise, if you wish to use meat on your pizza, to use slightly undercooked meat.

To bake, I placed it in the preheated oven of 375 degrees and set the timer for 13 minutes. Once the timer went off and I returned to check on my pizza, I pulled it out of the oven and began cutting it into 12 pieces and soon discovered that the middle was still uncooked. So I placed it back in the oven for another 6 minutes after which it was entirely done and ready to eat.

I choose to try my pizza with a little bit of sour cream, and it was delicious; I had a few bites without sour cream, then one bite with sour cream, and the whole meal was scrumptious. The crust was slightly flaky and quite moist rather than a previous yeast-free dough I had made. My husband and I only ate 1/2 the pizza that night, and refrigerated the rest. We then had the leftovers for breakfast the next morning, and they were still yummy - I would say not as good as the first night, but still good.

I hope you try this recipe, for I really enjoyed the outcomes, and with it there are many variations you can use with it. You can try a different type of hummus - I just bought some new sweet potato and a new avocado hummus. You can also vary the type and amount of vegetables you use. You can even take cheese sticks and stick them in the crust - I have done that with a different pizza recipe and it was scrumptious - and you can even try using a different cheese; I want to try making a pizza with feta cheese. Let you imagination go wild, and enjoy.

Bad carbs are the antithesis of good ones in that they are altered into glucose at such a fast rate that one's body does not have anywhere to store the sugar. With this said, people will get a shot of energy that lasts for a short time with bad carbs. The rest of this energy will end up in their fat cells, with the end result of them gaining more weight. In general, people should look to limit the amounts of bad carbs that they eat.

List of Bad Carbohydrate Foods - What to Avoid

If they wish to maintain a healthy lifestyle, individuals need to limit items from the list of bad carbohydrate foods as much as possible. These foods include but are not limited to any pastas/breads composed of white flour; ice cream; white rice; honey; sugar; bagels; and much more. A profusion of additional such foods can be found online.

List of Bad Carbohydrate Foods - What to Avoid

At this point in time, people should note that they will not necessarily gain weight by consuming bad carbs. The key is that they can eat them in moderation. To illustrate this, while it is fine for a person to have a half cup of mashed potatoes, eating three servings is not a good idea.

Good carbs that can serve to substitute bad ones can handily be found online. In a general sense, vegetables, fruits, and whole grains are good carbohydrates. Foods labeled as good carbs are usually low in sugar and fat, and it takes a while for the body to transform them into sugar, or glucose.

In summary, a list of bad carbohydrate foods is filled with foods that individuals should look to stay away from in their quests to live in a healthy manner. While bad carbs should be avoided, foods from the list of bad carbohydrate foods are fine to eat in moderation.

High Carb & Low Carb Diets: How To Avoid The Dangers

There are three types of nutrients that every body uses:
*Proteins in our diet usually come from Meat and soy products like tofu. Amino acids, the building blocks of proteins, are used to make muscles and enzymes (the proteins that do most of the work our bodies need to survive)

High Carb & Low Carb Diets: How To Avoid The Dangers

* Carbohydrates are sometimes described as "sugars," but they're not just white stuff in you find in the baking aisle. Simple sugars include the sugar you put in coffee; pasta, bread, and potatoes are among the source of starches, or complex carbohydrates. Most of your body uses carbs for energy, and it's the preferred energy source for the brain.

* Fats are long, chainlike molecules that are don't mix with water (oils are fats). They are an efficient way for the body to store energy.

You can see that all three nutrients are crucial for functioning. What happens if you take in more or less of a given nutrient than you need?

The Low-Fat Diet

The low-fat diet reduces fat intake, following the governmental food pyramid that suggests using fats sparingly. There are many good reasons to limit the amount of fat in your diet:

*cholesterol and fats can result in clogged up arteries, leading to heart disease and possible cardiac damage (in the form of a heart attack), stroke, and kidney disease

*fat packs a lot of calories - if you don't use those calories up in your daily activities, they will be stored in your fat cells and cause weight gain

Carbohydrates are not as good a signal of satiety. In contrast, when you eat a bit of fat, your body "recognizes" it as a signal to limit the amount of intake. So, while a low-fat diet can help you stay healthy, a no-fat diet may encourage you to eat more than you need. If you make up in carb-calories what you lose in fat-grams, excess carbs will be stored as starch in the liver and fat in your fat cells! So even though your diet is low-fat, you may end up gaining weight if you eat more carbs than you use in daily activities.

Lastly, you need the right sorts of carbs to keep healthy and assist weight loss. Simple sugars are quickly absorbed and use little energy to process - in other words, they add lots of calories to your meal. In contrast, foods with more complex carbohydrates, like starches in whole grain breads - take longer for your body to absorb and use more energy. They also give your body time to recognize that you're full. Complex carbohydrates are more likely to have vitamins (like potato skins which have lots of B12) and fiber (like whole grain bread), both of which are important for good health.

* making sure that you're satiated, since both fats are better signals to your body that "food's here!" than carbohydrates

* promoting ketosis: in ketosis/ Ketones are a byproduct of burning fats and proteins instead of carbohydrates.

* leveling out your hormonal response to carbohydrates. We make the hormone insulin in response to food, particularly sugar, entering the body. It's been hypothesized that large changes in insulin levels (for example, a large increase in response to a carb-heavy meal) trigger the storage of sugars as fat.

However, if decreasing carbs increases your fat intake, serious problems can result. In some studies, about 30% of people on low-carbohydrate diets showed an increase in cholesterol levels, even if they lost weight on the diet. Studies have also shown that low-carb diets may increase in kidney problems, especially in people who already had some kidney disease.

In addition, some studies suggest that ketosis in the Atkin's diet is not caused just by fat burn but by burning muscles instead. Muscle loss does result in weight loss, but is unlikely to give you the look you want, or to help you function. Lastly ketosis can be fatal in diabetic - if you're diabetic, you should speak with your doctor before starting any diet.

Women have some special issues to think about when looking at a low-carb diet. Some studies show that people on these diets lose a lot of calcium, which makes them a bad idea for women at risk for osteopenia or osteoporosis. In addition, some low-carb diets do not include the right foods for a balanced intake of vitamins; while a few days of missed vitamins aren't a problem, chronic deficiencies can lead to skin, eye, and bone damage. And for women who are pregnant or trying to become pregnant, ketones can be dangerous for a fetus as well as for you.

Which Diet Should I Use?

The keys to weight loss are moderation and tailoring. If you're interested in losing weight, talk with your healthcare provider about tailoring a weight-loss plan that takes into account your current health and weight-loss goals. Lowering calories and balancing nutrients, rather than focusing on a single "culprit" gives you the best chance of long-term weight reduction.
